When I first booked I thought I was going to a boring isolated small town, it would have been quiet but I really wanted to try out …
… surf for the first time and I found the price quite low. In the end it was a blast! It was a few years I didn’t have such a good, quality time in holiday. To enjoy it properly you should start from Monday/Sunday, these are the days when the surf camp kinda “reset” and people come and go. Amado Beach is where the surf lessons take place, the place is massive and sandy, very safe for beginners. I wanted to do 5 lessons and I ended up doin 7, after that I felt safe enough to go by myself another 2 times in another place in Portugal. Surf instructors are a bunch of very young and friendly people, their lessons were fun and well structured and beside the moves they will give you a great understanding about the sea and its dangers. The hostel is clean and cozy, nothing fancy but it has a really welcoming vibe, like time is passing slower than normally does. If you are a solo traveller this place is just perfect, just go surfing and you’ll make a lot of new friends!

… here are always so great, mainly due to the 2 fab managers, great surf instructors and awesome volunteers. The breakfasts are delicious with lots to choose from including lovingly baked goods. There’s always something going on in the evening.. infamous Friday BBQs with bottomless beer & sangria and family dinner nights where the food is damn good. Holds a special place in my heart 🙂
I discovered the surf school this March together with my family, and I went back two more times this year to surf with them. Each …
… time, I surfed with the school for five days.
All the surf instructors and the staff at the surf shop were incredibly kind, friendly, helpful, and fun. They were always happy to see me again when I came back the other two times. Depending on your booking, they pick you up either directly from their hostel, from the surf shop, or sometimes even from the address you provide, and they also bring you back afterward. Of course, you can also follow with your own car.
During the main season, they always go to Praia do Amado beach, where the surf school also has another shop for renting surfboards and wetsuits. In the off-season, the instructors always check which nearby beaches have the best waves and conditions for the course. This can be Praia do Beliche, Praia do Tonel, or Praia da Mareta.
The surf instructors Tomas, Ficho, Julia, Miguel, Mika, and (Ronal) always do their best to teach the whole group, but also to support each person individually, giving tips to help you improve. They always combine this with a bit of fun.
I can only highly recommend this surf school and will definitely go back to Sagres to surf with them again. It’s been one of the best surfing experiences of my life.

… selection were all taken care off. Very friendly, helpful instructors and the group atmosphere in the lesson was great. Meren was my daughter surf instructor she was very professional and very helpful to make her confident for her first lesson, helping her with technique in the water and spent time helping her feel safe with the waves. Alex in the shop was a darling extremely helpful and informative with us as we were completely inexperienced, when we rented a board and wetsuit on another day. Highly recommended if you’re surfing around Sagres.

Our home base is Sagres – the laid-back surf town at the edge of Europe, where two coastlines meet and the waves keep rolling all year.
We teach mainly at Praia da Mareta in Sagres and Praia do Amado in Carrapateira – two of the Algarve’s most consistent and beginner-friendly surf spots, each offering ideal conditions depending on the wind and swell.
Thanks to the unique geography of the Sagres area, we can adapt to wind and swell, choosing the best beach each day to give you the safest and most rewarding surf session.
