At our Algarve Surf School, we offer tailored lessons for all levels. Our certified instructors focus on small groups, ensuring personal attention, rapid progression, and maximum fun in a safe environment.

Group Surf Lessons
Surf adventure at the beach along the Algarve coast.
We teach at Praia do Amado or Praia da Mareta. Both offering great waves for beginners and advanced – depending on the day.
Enjoy a day in the water with experienced instructors, quality surf gear, and good vibes. Perfect for those who want to surf and connect with others.
Private Surf Lessons
Private surf coaching for individuals or small groups.
Kick off your day with a personalised surf lesson at the beach, tailored to your level and goals.
Whether you come solo or with friends (up to 5 people), you’ll get dedicated coaching and plenty of time in the water. Ideal for anyone who prefers a focused and flexible learning experience.
Kids Surf Lessons
Fun and safe surf lessons for kids aged 6–12.
A playful and safe introduction to surfing for kids from 6 years old! Taught in small groups of up to 5, our morning lessons focus on fun, ocean awareness, and basic surf skills.
Our experienced instructors make sure every child feels confident, supported, and stoked to surf.

At our Amado beach hut, just steps from the waves – right on Praia do Amado, we gear up, chill between sessions and soak up the surf vibe. Everything you need for a full day at the beach is right here.

Level 1 - Beginner
You’ll start in the whitewater, learning all the basics in a safe, fun and supportive environment. We focus on building your confidence and your stoke.
After your surf lessons you will know how to catch and control broken waves, how to stand up on a surfboard and ride a wave on your feet, how to stop your board and fall safely.
A strong surfer starts with strong basics. Taking your time with the foundations isn’t just smart – it sets you up to enjoy better waves, more style, and real progress.
Level 2 - Improver
You’ve got the basics down — now it’s time to build on them. In this level, you’ll learn how your stance and body position affect your rides, how to maintain stability, and how to surf broken waves with more control and confidence.
Our focus is helping you create a solid foundation before heading out to the green waves — this is where real progress begins.
Dialing in your stance and control now will make your transition to green waves easier, faster, and way more fun. Great surfers don’t skip this step — they master it.
Level 3 - Intermediate
This level is ideal if you’re confidently riding broken waves and ready to start catching green, unbroken waves. We’ll teach you everything you need to feel comfortable in the line-up and take off with control and style.
You’ll build real ocean confidence — learning how to read the waves, time your take-offs, and ride the open face both frontside and backside.
This is where it all comes together. We are giving you the tools to become a capable, confident, and respectful surfer – ready to explore new breaks.

… time, I surfed with the school for five days.
All the surf instructors and the staff at the surf shop were incredibly kind, friendly, helpful, and fun. They were always happy to see me again when I came back the other two times. Depending on your booking, they pick you up either directly from their hostel, from the surf shop, or sometimes even from the address you provide, and they also bring you back afterward. Of course, you can also follow with your own car.
During the main season, they always go to Praia do Amado beach, where the surf school also has another shop for renting surfboards and wetsuits. In the off-season, the instructors always check which nearby beaches have the best waves and conditions for the course. This can be Praia do Beliche, Praia do Tonel, or Praia da Mareta.
The surf instructors Tomas, Ficho, Julia, Miguel, Mika, and (Ronal) always do their best to teach the whole group, but also to support each person individually, giving tips to help you improve. They always combine this with a bit of fun.
I can only highly recommend this surf school and will definitely go back to Sagres to surf with them again. It’s been one of the best surfing experiences of my life.
